Smart Technologies, is a pre-clinical stage company developing a new cancer treatment technology for oral squamous cell cancer, head and neck cancer, and colon cancer. Our technology is called StarC, which stands for specifically targeted aggressive removal of Cancer. Our patented hollow gold nano-spheres (HGN's), with peptides, increase cell targeting efficiencies by 10-15 fold. The HGN's and IR light probe when utilized together produce destructive heat destroying the cancer cell.  This technology uses no chemotherapy drugs or destructive radiation. Toxicity is nominal.

It is estimated that approximately $19 billion is spent each year on the treatment of oral squamous cell cancer, head and neck cancer, and colon cancer. The annual new cases of these cancers are estimated to be about 200,000 annually in the US. Death rates from these cancers are estimated to be about 78,070 annually.
